One of the good features of this phone is its GPS. I never really use this feature unless i need to log-in at Foursquare and thanks to xxxdimples07xxx who initiated this topic at TipidCP.
There are two maps that you can use offline to help you in your driving/walking/commuting: OsmAnd and Google Maps v5.
OsmAnd is great since it’s the first offline map that I used. It took me awhile to get the settings right. I downloaded the offline regions for PH and i thought that i’d cover all cities in the Metro but i was wrong. I’m thinking that the offline data that i’ve downloaded might be for landmarks, or route markers. In any case, i needed to view access the entire metro that i can map tile cache can be saved on my sd card. thus, giving me the ability to access the map offline. I’ve made some tests and yep, the map’s working.

Google maps v5 also works the same. you need to view the map first via wifi (or thru mobile internet), save the map tile cache and enable the “Prefetch on mobile” option. good thing that Google released this new version coz the previous version doesn’t have this option.
